Abashiri Prisons
As Salam. Now it is time for Abashiri prisons which I believed is the most notorious, most feared and most mad prisons in Japan or so I read from few of my references. Only infamous criminals that are harsh, evil, mean and most despicable were brought to this gloomy place on the Okhotsk Sea such as Yakuza and reckless criminals that got caught.
This prison was operated from the year 1890 to 1984. It is now a museum created as a tourist site. The prison was once burn down in 1909. Abashiri prison is a place for prisoners to be executed. One of the interesting places here in Abashiri is the Mirror Bridge. The name of the bridge is said to derive from the fact that the prisoners could see their own reflections in the water of the river. The faces of guilty men when they entered, the faces of reformed men when they left. If they ever left, that is.
Prison Cells The cells do not look like too bad a place to be. A central coal-fired heating system provided some comfort in the winter and the strict regimen of the prison certainly made sure that everything was clean and tidy.
